Alignment Commons is a voluntary, noncommercial space for AI safety research. This page explains how the website uses information when you browse, sign in, and contribute.

Signing in

You can use Google or an email link to sign in. Google sign-in requests your basic profile and email address to authenticate your account through Supabase. It does not request access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, contacts, or calendar.

Supabase stores your account information and connected sign-in identities. Your email address is not displayed publicly by this website. An existing public display name is preserved; new Google accounts use the public name “Researcher”. We do not automatically publish your Google profile name or picture.

Research contributions

The website stores the ideas, arguments, experiments, feedback, and other contributions you submit. Published contributions are visible to other visitors and credited to your public display name. Private drafts are available to their owner through the application. Site operators can access stored data to administer and support the service.

Choose what you include in public contributions carefully. Avoid adding information you do not want other people to see.

Cookies and service providers

Essential cookies keep you signed in and complete sign-in securely. Supabase provides authentication, and Cloudflare hosts the website and research database. These services process the information needed to provide their functions, including technical connection information. Sign-in abuse limits use hashed identifiers based on email addresses and network addresses.

Google receives the information involved in your Google sign-in. You can review connected apps in your Google Account settings. Removing Google access does not by itself delete your Alignment Commons account or published contributions.

Retention and requests

Account and contribution records remain stored for the operation of the research service unless removed. To ask about your information, correct it, or request its deletion, use the support email shown in the app’s Google sign-in details. Identify the account or contributions concerned; do not send passwords or sign-in links.
